EOHU Inaugurates New Casselman Office with an Open House
The Eastern Ontario Health Unit (EOHU) inaugurated its new office in Casselman on May 11th with an Open House event attended by community stakeholders, members of the media as well as the general public.
The EOHU’s new facilities, located at 872 Principale Street in Casselman, were built to better meet the needs of the growing community in Casselman and the surrounding areas. In addition to visiting the new office, the attendees got to check out a variety of kiosks highlighting the programs and services offered by the EOHU and its accomplishments in improving public health throughout Eastern Ontario since it first opened its doors in 1935. Dr. Paul Roumeliotis, Medical Officer of Health at the EOHU, also gave a presentation on the health status of the population in the five counties covered by the health unit.
“I am proud to inaugurate our new Casselman office,” said Dr. Roumeliotis, adding that “the Open House was the perfect opportunity for our partners in the community and the public we serve to see our new facilities for themselves and to learn more about public health’s accomplishments and challenges in the region.” Gilles Fournier, Chair of the EOHU’s Board of Health, agreed. “We’re very happy to have the new office building. It will allow us to continue to provide high-quality programs and services for our growing population in this region.”
The attendees also took part in a plaque-unveiling ceremony where the Village of Casselman and the EOHU thanked the family of Léo-Paul Laflèche for their generous donation of the land on which the new office was built.
